Don't know anything about the guy other than what I've just read in your links, but he seems pretty level-headed and smart. I'd vote for him.

I am a gun owner and have a CHL. I really just enjoy shooting. The only time I ever carry my 1911 .45 is when I'm on a long road tip and/or camping. I have been involved in a couple situations while out in the woods where I was glad I had a gun on me. One involved a human. The other was a bear. In each instance, no rounds were fired, but in the former, I firmly believe it turned the tide of the moment and prevented any actual violence.
I also do a lot of backcountry fly fishing. When I'm in bear/cougar country, I generally carry a shorty pump 12ga along.
Never carried one in the Field Ministry.

I generally add the cabbage about the last 15-20 min. I like the cabbage to have just a bit of al dente to it. if you put the cabbage in with everything else at the beginning, it turns to mush. I like to quarter a turnip and/or a parsnip and add it to the mix as well.

Man, I am so waiting for the day he gets caught in an airport bathroom stall participating in the very things that he publicly condemns. You know it's coming.

Hey Low Key, have you ever seen or heard of Theakston's Old Peculiar??
I had it last year when I was in Scotland. Way too sweet & malty for my palate (I'm a dedicated hop-head).
There is a pub here in Seattle called The Old Peculiar. That's what inspired me to try the beer when I saw it in Scotland.

I officially hate you now, but of course that could change if you invite me over for a wee dram!
How close are you to Seattle? Come on over. whisk(e)y's for sharing. I never drink alone.

A robust stout. Any brand recommendations for my hubby?
If you can get Deschutes Brewery beer where you live, their Obsidian Stout is great.
Rogue Brewery's Chocolate Stout is incredible. Nice bitter chocolate flavor with none of the sweetness.
Even the Guinness Foreign Extra Stout is far superior to their regular stuff, but it can be hard to find. Trader Joe's might have it, though.
Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout is another fine choice, and is likely a little easier to find.
Oatis Oatmeal Stout by Ninkasi Brewery is great too, but again, finding it might be tricky.
Access to many great brews is just one of many benefits to life in the Pac NW.

Just add dark beer with the meal and a good Irish Whiskey afterwards and I am so there!
Slainte to that! A nice robust stout (Guinness is too light-bodied, IMO). I work as a brand ambassador for the Diageo line of whiskeys. I was just presented last week with a limited edition bottling from Bushmills. A 20yo single malt, rum-cask aged beauty. Number 33 of 1,000. Think I'll have some of that with my corned beef tonight.
